A Day at Unleashed Dog Hotel
From paw-some pool time to naps and cuddles — take a look inside!
Hi! I’m Townes 🐾. I’m a six-year-old Border Collie/Lab mix, professional squirrel watcher, part-time tennis ball collector, and full-time good boy.
Today, I spent the whole day at Unleashed Dog Hotel in Murray, UT, and let me tell you—it was AWESOME!
Pssst! Can’t read? No opposable thumbs? You’re a dog who was given some screen time? Click here to watch the video of my tail-waggin’ time!
6:00 AM – The Adventure Begins
Mom dropped me off bright and early. She says she loves the early drop-off times and that she’s jealous she doesn’t get to spend the day playing with dogs.
First things first, I headed outside for a quick potty break.
After that, the nice humans brought me into my own standard suite. It’s kind of like a dog kennel, but with huge glass windows, no bars, not dark, my own bed, and lots of space so I could get comfortable and settle in.
I sniffed everything.
And I mean EVERYTHING.
You can learn a lot about a place from its smells. I smell so many dogs here…it’s fantastic! So many new friends!
Breakfast Time = Best Time
Now, I take breakfast very seriously.
My Mom is a little spacey when she has a big project at work.
She forgot to bring my food! THIS IS GOING TO BE A DISASTER.
Oh, just kidding! Even though my mom forgot to bring my food, Unleashed still had food there available for me (my mom just had to ask)!
After polishing off every last bite, I got to relax on one of those elevated dog beds.
So comfy!
Have you ever tried one? They’re amazing! My belly stayed cool while I digested my food.
Honestly, I could have stayed there all morning.
But then things got exciting.
9:30 AM – Angelique Arrives
By 9:30, a very nice lady named Angelique came over and gave me lots of scratches and pets.
She clearly understands the proper way to greet a distinguished gentleman like myself.
Then she took me outside to the play yard.
And that’s when I saw them.
MY FRIENDS.
Dezi The Pitbull was there.
So was Koda the Briard.
Even Waffles the Great Dane.
I’ve always wondered if Waffles likes eating waffles.
I’ve never gotten a clear answer.
We spent what felt like forever playing tag, chasing each other around the yard, and doing important dog business
The Mysterious Poop Detective
Something strange happened during playtime.
Every time one of us went potty, one of the humans would pull out a phone and start typing.
Every.
Single.
Time.
I don’t know exactly what they were doing, but I’m pretty sure they were tracking our eliminations.
They did it for every dog.
Kind of creepy.
But also impressive.
Humans are weird.
12:30 PM – The Greatest Surprise Ever
Suddenly it was lunchtime.
Time flies when you’re having fun.
Now, I don’t usually eat lunch.
But Mom had arranged something special. Classic Mom.
A peanut butter Kong.
SCORE!!!
The humans handed it to me, and I immediately forgot every other snack I’ve ever had.
It was amazing.
The peanut butter was packed inside like buried treasure, and I worked very hard to retrieve every last bit.
The best part?
They told me I could take it home afterward.
This may have been the greatest day of my life.
Private Pool Paw-ty
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, I got escorted to a private pool party.
FOR DOGS.
Some of my friends jumped straight into the water.
Not me.
I had important investigations to conduct first.
There were new smells.
New dogs.
New corners.
Lots of things needed sniffing.
That’s when I met a guy named Doug.
Doug was what they call a “deck dog.”
Which basically means he’s more of a chiller than a chaser.
I liked Doug immediately.
We hung out by the pool together while he kept lookout.
Eventually I stretched out beside him and took a nice poolside nap.
Doug is cool.
2:00 PM – Party Mode Activated
When I woke up, I felt refreshed.
Ready.
Energized.
Prepared to PAWTY.
I trotted around in circles just because I could.
I splashed in the bone-shaped pool.
I met some new friends named Jack and Sonny.
We ran.
We swam.
We sniffed.
We repeated.
Honestly, I don’t know how humans have time for jobs when there are so many fun things to do.
Eventually, we took a break at the rest stop to see what was on tap.
Can you believe it?
WATER.
My favorite beverage.
I had at least seven sips.
Maybe eight.
3:30 PM – Dinner and Relaxation
After an action-packed afternoon, it was time to head back to my suite. .
Then dinner was served.
I cleaned my bowl thoroughly because that’s what professionals do.
Then I relaxed, rested my paws, and took one more potty break before pickup time.
I was pretty tired.
The good kind of tired.
The kind you get after a really great day.
7:00 PM – Mom Comes Back
Finally, I saw Mom.
I ran over to greet her.
I missed her SO MUCH.
I gave her my happiest tail wag and my biggest smile.
On the ride home, I told her all about Koda, Dezi, Jack, Sonny, Waffles, Doug, Sam, Milo, Angelique, the pool party, and my peanut butter Kong.
Well, I tried to tell her.
Most of it came out as excited panting.
I fell asleep before we even got out of the parking lot.
And while I was dreaming about swimming pools, peanut butter, and my friends…
I was already excited to come back and do it all again.
See you next time,
